I seem to be having a problem with my mamba Sidewinder 4600 system and was hoping someone might be able to help. I am only getting about a range of about 10-20ft. After that it starts to go crazy with the throttle and steering. But when i put in my old XL-5 and titan motor its jut fine, no problems at all. I thought i heard somewhere that brushless motors cause interfearance but with the mamba esc +titan motor it does the same thing.
So is there any way to elimate or reduce the interfearace or is the only thing i can do is upgrade the reciver and radio.
If nothing else what would be a decent recvier upgrade.
Sorry about typo's feeding daughter and typing 1 handed. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you have to twist or weave the motor wires & even the battery wires in some cases. Also check to make sure your battery terminals are not contacting the chassis.

It's been a longstanding problem for some people from the advent of the first BL systems - it's not the radio system per se (though the stocker is a cheap unit) it's the interference that's transmitted through the motor wires. The "fix" is to simply to put a twist or two into the wires leading to the motor. The other thing is that people that upgrade their esc's oftentimes end up with a jumble of wires running everywhere that cross each other quite liberally -- so clean up your harnesses, with a couple of tiewraps. The final thing is that oftentimes people neglect to keep any power wire away from the antenna wire, or they've rolled it up or have it wrapped wildly around the antenna tube -- clean this up nice and neat to and make sure the antenna wire doesn't cross over itself anywhere anyway.

The "other" thing that has fixed it for folks is to get a capacitor that plugs into the battery port on the receiver, it absorbs the voltage spikes.

Well, it still is acting the same way even twisting the motor wires, battery wires, and unbunching the reciver wires from under my esc. I even tryed a different reciver that i got from a friend...with 2 different crystals. It seems act twitchy at the start with full throttle too. It wont even do a wheelie. Any other suggestions or something that i missed? Thanks

Sounds like you covered all the bases. I would call Castle and ask them about it.

Here again, these "stock" transmitter/receiver sets aren't the best, and I literally haven't known anyone that's hung on to one long, and though I don't think it's your problem it could possibly be at least part of the issue.
It sort of falls under the parameters of "once you start upgrading, you have to keep upgrading to keep up with the upgrades"... LOL ... in other words, just slapping in a BL system can be problematic if you haven't already upgraded the radio gear to something more tolerant of the motor system you've chosen.

So, do you have any suggestions as to a new radio system thats not to pricey?

Did anyone else have ths problem with there mamba or VXL? I talked to a guy at Castle Creations and he was saying that there was a chance I had a bad ESC and if that was the case they would replace it for free. Since I have did everything besides upgrade the raido. That is that las thing I could think of. Plus a couple of my friends are saying the same thing.

I would send it in,at the least you would eliminate one more item. As Rob linked,You can't go wrong with any 2.4ghz. system.

Still, thats quite a price tag...Wish I didn't have to. You know...that amount of money could go to a set of proline Beadlock rims and tires

What seems to be happening is your motor is requesting to much power so it is overpowering your radio, which in turn is causing the glitching. If you buy the Capacitor, whitch is around $6-$10 that should solve your problem. Good luck.
