I'm interested as to how it runs, and wish you guys all the luck. But for business sense I think this thing will need some type of gimmik to sell it, but I could be wrong. This is true 1/10 scale who will it race to small to run with the Slash crowd, and with the economy now like it is I don't see a lot of people throwing down $385 and then having to purchase electronics on top of that when they can just spend $200. This could also be with just the state I live in also though as we are being the hardest hit right now. Also by the time this thing is all completed you would be able to buy a Slayer and maybe possibly a SC8 for the same amount and there is a greater possibilty of classes for these. At the track I raced at in the summer I don't know how many times we were rubbing bodies along the way just like the real guys and after races we would at times race around a section of track that was oval trying to make each other wipe out and laughing the whole time, why my above idea.
All I can say is I do wish them the best luck with this, I really do. And if there is ever a class for them around here I would probably pick one up, but I don't need another basher or shelf queen.

Everyone keeps asking whats it gonna run against or what about the body yadda yadda yadda . What i dont see is people giving the truck a chance . Has everyone gotten so used to being force fed the same ole rtr babyfood that as soon as a company offers something new (and not a buggy on steroids or redesigned basher ) they dont know what to do . Think back to the original rc10t or jrxt at the time there was no class for it to run in either, and look how popular those 2 trucks have become . For you bashers out there think back to the original blackfoot or clodbuster or (let me really date myself here) the kyosho usa-1 . Remember how fun it was to build the truck then go out and run it . I guess what im trying to say is dont buy into the same ole rtr nonsense anymore demand more from these companies. There is abosolutly no reason the other BIG name companies cant make a truck with the scale appeal of Thunder Tech

That pisses me off when you say we are falling for the rtr hoopla.
With the economy the way it is right now, some people just do not have the money to throw away on a truck that is not even guaranteed to have a class.
Nobody at my LHS even knew what a Thunder Tech CORR2 truck was until they looked it up on the internet, and even the LHS said noone would fall for that crap.
I do have to say, that your posting does remind me of another user that used to be on here that drove alot of others off.

It is NOT that person.
But the RTR thing pisses me off also. I see where both RTR and Kits have advantages and disadvantages. Me I like to wrench but there is times that I just don't have the time so would be nice for alternatives. As for the old trucks (crap showing my age) I have an original blackfoot that I have kept over the years even had a Cox Bandit. I think consumer marketing and demand are why the RTRS are more popular and can get newer people in, as they are already built and ready to go and some people just don't have the time or skills to do it, especailly starting out.
As I see it right now with the you have several choices for CORR trucks. 2wd $200 and $635+ Figured core price with a sport brushless system and a 100 radio, not really race worthy 4wd $430 and $700
With the times and economy you can only get one which one are you going to choose? Think about it from a sense of somebody just walking into a hobby shop and not because it is your brand or anything like that. I know I will have alot less $$$ then I had planned for 2009 and will not be seeing the extra $$$. So will have to make wise decesions.

All im saying is rtr is great for kids and / or beginners . Yes its also good for those who dont have the time , but i thought a hobby was susposed to be for people to MAKE time for themselves . To enjoy the time spent and relax . Not for lets open the box ,slap stickers on , and lets go . Then again maybe thats half the reason the economy IS so screwed up everyone wanting instant gratifaction . Invest a $ today get 2 tomarrow . Problem being now its invest $ today and i want 5 in ten mins. People are just to damn busy being busy and just need to relax with a nice r/c kit and enjoy what us "old timers " used to do --- build it - paint it - run it . Ever think about why it is the airplane and boat scene hasnt gotten like the car and truck scene . Cause boats and planes have to be built carefully one loose bolt or screw up in the air and youve ruined the WHOLE plane not just a part like a car or truck. They take the time to ENJOY the hobby LEARNING and GAINING EXPERIENCE so they get better at it as they grow in the hobby . Id like to take a poll and see how many people with an RTR can actually fix it if theres a problem . And i dont mean something simple like replacing an a-arm , i mean opening up the gear box or fixing a piston sleeve or something in that nature . Im willing to bet most just take it their to LHS for repairs.

Here's a little tip for you that you should follow,
THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE OR OPEN YOUR MOUTH.
You are not making friends by making these comments.
And to tell you, I can fix my own cars. Once I had to take the whole front end of my T-MAXX apart to get to the gears to replace a stripped gear. So no, I do not take my cars to the LHS.

Taking it to the hobby shop helps the economy. There's more people into the hobby now then ever before thanks to rtr and race rollers, etc.

This argument really has two sides. When I first got into the hobby I'd take my stuff to the LHS. The more I watched Chris (Konaman) work on stuff the more I realized I could do it myself. I went home one day and totally disassembled my Revo, (down to the diffs anyway) and put it back together. It was the best way to learn the truck, and I've tore almost all of my other trucks since down "just to see how they work". I still let Chris do my electrical/solder work, because I don't feel like burning the house down. On the flip side, some people just don't have the mechanical aptitude to work on things, and often make things alot worse than they were before.

slasherfred , Thank you for seeing what i am talking about the WAY YOU LEARN SOMETHING IS BY DOING IT or in your case you learned by watching it be done . And im sure that with some practice you could learn to solder as well . As for mr slashaholic maybe the reason that "other guy" pisses you off is you are easily pissed off or consider your self ALWAYS right . Its your opinion thats true and any who believes different "should think before they open their mouths " . Well Mr Slash im sorry but your opinion IS NOT the only 1 on here and if it pisses you off im sorry for that too but i wont sugar coat something just to not piss someone off . If ya dont like what is being said it's very simple ....... leave or turn off your computer . One more thing if youde read my post carefully this time you would see that my whole point is for people to do repairs themselves as you stated you do , so wheres your arguement . Quite honestly im sick and tired of having to defend the truck when this thread was susposed to be a good place for people to exchange ideas and setups not a place for people to bad mouth others and yes ive done it too but only to defend something i believe wholeheartly in the THUNDER TECH PRO 2WD IS AN AWESOME TRUCK !

I agree that we as a whole are too much into the "I want it to run 10 minutes out of the box" for the most part. I still remember spending 6 hours with my dad as we built my first r/c back in 1985, a Tamiya Lunchbox. But on the other side, look how many more people are into the hobby due to RTR stuff.
The nice thing is we have a choice. You can buy an inexpensive RTR Slash, or buy a purpose built kit. Same goes with any other class of r/c. There's Factory Team kits or RTR cars, etc. The choice is ours.
