to each his own, but don't use these threads to bash the manufacturers - it's very un-coolWas I bashing the manufacturer? As far I as could see, I was stating that I do not like the car which as far as I know is not bashing the manufacturer. I know we had problems in the past with false accusations, and feelings were hurt. But I made a mistake in deleting my account in rage, and I have decided to comeback without the bad attitude.

Making a single comment about the truck is one thing, making a second is over the top, redudant, and unneccessary and borders on crossing the manufacturer-bashing line as you made your point the first time. ... as far as the rest of it, if you're cool I can be cool.

lol, OK you can go with that ............(but you might try checking the website where it notes a $385 pricetag).....all I'm going to say is that the spread of rumors, wives tales, misrepresentations, and misinformation have done more to foster the utter of confusion of the masses by people telling others what they thought instead of what they knew as fact than anything known to mankind

Another prime example of me putting my foot in my mouth before checking things out.
From the website, it does look like a cool truck. I like the solid rear axle. I also like the fact that you can make the truck actually look like a Chevy, Ford, Toyota, or Nissan with it's multiple decals.
The only thing I do not like is the firewalls, but that is something I could get used too.
I'll be anticipating one of these r/c magazines doing an article on it too see how it is.

How is the motor going to get good airflow with the body and panels around it.

Still wouldn't pay $385 for something that has only one good thing that I like, the solid rear axle. so you'd pay 200 bucks for a rebadged Rustler, but you won't pay another 185 for a completely new specialty vehicle? to each his own, but don't use these threads to bash the manufacturers - it's very un-coolYep I would pay $200 for the Slash. But it isn't a rebadged Rustler, it is a Stampede with a wide chassis. And here is the main reason I would go with the Slash over the ThunderTech is the issue of parts availability. There are 8 LHS within 30 mins of my house and none of them would probably carry the ThunderTech parts but all of them carry the Traxxas parts...................... My remarks are not a bashing of the ThunderTech truck just my opinion. Their truck looks nice but I hate to have to order my parts on-line.

Guys, I think we're going a bit over the top with what some might call "manufacturer bashing"...... to whatever degree that may be.
Personally I don't think it appropriate in this thread to degrade the ThunderTech truck, especially since none of us have one yet, nor is it the proper forum (thread) to woo-hoo Traxxas products.
And finally, while some of you are lucky enough to have a bundle of hobby shops within minutes of your home there are the majority of us that don't have that luxury - and whether it be that we go to the lhs only to find they have to order it, or we order it ourselves online, we have to get our stuff somewhere. And if I have to "order" a part, I really don't care who makes it.

Yeah like stated, its nice to have a LHS to be able to get parts all the time, but I wouldn't use that as an excuse to stop me from buying something I like. I mail order parts and kits all the time. With gas prices and a busy schedule, there's nothing wrong with having the parts arrive at my door step. Just like with my Slash, I bought a bunch of spare parts for "Just in case" situations so I wouldn't have downtime when I wanted to play.

Yeah, the reality of today's marketplace is that people are buying more and more stuff online - and anybody that suggests they haven't bought RC stuff that way either doesn't have a credit card or their 12....or has a ridiculous number of nearby shops and the gas to waste going to them.
But truth is I really only go to my lhs to support a local business, to see if I can run into a buddy, and bullshit with the guys behind the counter and do some benchracing - but as far as convenience, ordering online is way easier.

If I may put my two cents in on this.I love the slash ,I love the Slayer, I love the AE that will be coming out soon , and I love the Thunder Tec truck why ? Because finally we have something in offraod racing that looks and acts like what is being raced in the real world . We just had our first Slash race at our track and it was so cool to see these things go side by side over a double and chaos not happen , to see them go into corners and bump and bang but not climb on one another. All the manufacturers that I listed will have very good prod and will be extremely race worthy Thunder tec will be a race worthy platform and I welcome them when they get there truck out . As for parts I bet somewhere on their sight there is a dealer inquiry and if there is talk to your LH to try and be one, they have other real cool things as well . Traxxas did a smart thing by making two new and extremely fun trucks out of largely already available parts and hop ups so lets embrace what these companies have done like give us some( in my opinion) more realistic racing in offraod. thanks Bearfan ;D ;D
