I've got one making a horrible howling noise but it's good if I oil it each run.

Yeah the bushings will make a nice screeching sound if they are not oiled often.

I tried running a Fireball 15t with a 15-tooth pinion and stock spur, and the stupid thing seized up on me after 5 runs on 7 cells. I only drove in on pavement and an indoor track before it ruined my day. Worthless $16 POS!
I'm sticking to the stock Titan before getting a Mamba. I've never had problems with them myself (having run demo trucks at my LHS where I work, and in my Slash of course), although that can be attributed to my 15t pinion and lack of water/mud driving.

Well finally killed my first one yesterday. The bushing on the pinion side wore to the point that the arm hits the magnets. It still runs, just makes lots of noise.

I sent my VXL in for repair and was jonesing for some action. I put the XL-5 and Titan back in with the stock pinion. End of first battery - smoked it! Glad my replacement VXL and Mamba showed up today!

just ONE ---- after that I went brushless, no sense in wasting time on motors you can't work on unless they're maintenance free like BL
