Seems like the Slayer isn't really selling. I know my LHS has had their original 2 in stock for a while now, and has yet to sell one. In the mean time, sold about a dozen Slash's. So what do you guys think?

I think I might have mentioned something like this a while back - but personally, I think by using the exact same wheels and body for two entirely different platform so that for all intents and purposes they appeared the same on the outside that it laid the groundwork for a marketing flop. Side by side, to the "uninformed," there's little for them to look at and justify a $200-plus price difference -- and for the "informed," I think we're all aware of the wain in nitro's popularity.
Then when you add to that by factoring in the facts that: it ain't electric so it shoo's a whole group from even considering it (big mistake it wasn't the e-revo's little bro), it really isn't a racer per se, there really isn't an existing nitro class for it to race in, many out there are waiting for the AE CORR truck that will absolutely dominate it performance-wise, it ain't cheap which kinda kills the fun factor that the Slash retains, with the cost of nitro going through the roof it makes people other than the pure racers wary,......
..... and it all leads to a dust-gatherer on hobby shop shelves.
But that's just me ... anybody else?

I think the platform it uses also kills it. If it was based more off a 1/8 buggy like the SC8 there would be more interest. Nitro is losing it's attraction with the lipo and brushless systems, but the Revo platform I don't think helps either.

Seeing some driving vids of it, it looks like it can take the track well. It jumps and lands as well as the Slash, but I can see the reasons why it wouldn't be selling. And it is easy to see the decline in nitro; the cost of fuel and maintenence time really turned me off from it, so I went back to Electric, (also, I'm not sure they'd let me keep such a hazardous product as Nitro fuel in my dorm room). Of course, batteries dont get the same run time and constant performance like a nitro, but it doens't meant that those ten to twenty minutes aren't a blast! Maybe if the Slayer drops in price, or if Traxxas makes an electric version, I'll consider getting one, but for now, I'm content with the Slash.

I think the price is what scares most people. Alot of people want the truck for the scale looks and if thats all they want, obviously they are going to get the E-Slash which is about half the price of the nitro.

If the N-Slayer is a flop,I wonder if Traxxas will even consider a E-Slayer

I think it's just a matter of time, look at the Revo. It took off kinda slow & now it dominates most all monster truck classes. I do think a brushless electric would have done better tho.
