so, i was running the Slash today. showing it off to some people in my dorm building. when all of a sudden it just stopped running. the batter hadnt become disconnected. the wires were sheered away from anything. the ESC was still on and obviously recieving. the steering worked, but there was no throttle, forward or reverse. the light would blink indicating that it was accepting in put when i pulled the trigger, but nothing. not even a lurch. I wasnt running any LiPo and the truck had only been running 8 minutes, if that. If anybody has had this happen or know anything to fix it, lemme know. with the only hobby shop being Korean and not well stocked, it would suck to have to order stuff online, but i will if needed. Thanks

steering still work too?
sounds like the motor poofed to check it, plug it straight into the battery - if it runs, it's still good and your problem is elsewhere

If the motor isnt dead, check the temp of the speed control. It may have just overheated as I believe the XL-5 has a thermal shutdown if it gets to hot.

So, I think I went through another motor, this time in my Kyosho On road car. I guess it's the stock stuff they companies put in there products. Those stockers are probably only designed to last a few packs maybe. The motors is a 20turn and I'm running the stock pinion gear(36) and a 66spur gear (stock was 68). Not only was the motor hot, hot enough to burn me, but so was the battery. Just a 7.2 6 cell pushing 2800mAh. Not guite sure if thats common. The ESC didnt get hot. Just the motor. Guess its time for a replacement. Any theroies as to why this happens?

Well running a 66t spur geared it up the same as going up 1 pinion gear size, so it just may have been too much for the stock motor to handle.

possibly, but it was getting reall hot on the stock gearing too.
