check your spur and or gear mesh, just incase the motor slipped and started chewing the gears. A stripped spur makes a horrible noise

i checked the gears and all are good. i loosened the slipper than put it back down but not all the way tight. i took the motor off the truck, but kept it connected and it made the noise. it only does it towards the end of the run and sometimes in the begining. but the motor itself isnt that hot. i plan on going brushless soon, but still wanna get the most out of the truck beforehand

Mine made a terrible noise once the bushings ran dry.

I already went through one motor on my slash. Then I finally found out what was wrong the axle bar that goes through the motor would pivot so if I sent it to traxxas would they send me a new motor

If you have been running your slipper tight, it should slip the first foot or so on take-off, it puts a lot of extra strain on the motor and can lead to shortening its lifespan. But I'm with Rob#28 on this one, it really sounds as if the oillites have run dry, or are running dry - and you need to be really dilligent to keep them oiled (along with occassionally giving the motor a good flushing with motorspray to get the funk out of them).
