Bought an inexpensive charger when I bought my Slash and want to upgrade to a better one. Most likely will just run Nimh batteries but would like to have the option to change to Lipo, any thought s on brand or model? Thanks guys!!

I run a Hyperion 606I AD/DC charger. Its GREAT and so easy to use. Plus you can plug it right into the wall, you dont have to buy a power supply for it. I have had mine for a couple months now and have nothing but good things to say. Its so easy to use, and has an included balancer if you go the lipo route sometime. And it charges NiCD, NiMH, LiPo, and A123 cells. Heres the link: holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=145&cat=7&page=1

The DTX line is nice too, I almost went for the Onyx myself, but once I saw the Hyperion it was well worth the extra dough.

Personally, while I understand people trying to save a buck anywhere they can I've always worked under the theory of "pay me now, or pay me later" and/or "go cheap now, and you'll wish you had spent spent a few more dollars the first time when you replace it later." That being said, I'm also not much of a fan of the all-in-one battery charger/power supply units on the market - no more than I'm a fan of TV/VCR/DVD units - because if one goes down you can't replace just one you have to replace the whole thing. That and power supplies generate a lot of heat, and having them in the same box as a charger just decreases the life of both even if made by a quality manufacturer. As a result I've long favored seperate power supplies and chargers (I understand that it's a pain for you guys that just bash in your backyard or want to run a quick pack in front of the house and don't want to drag all this stuff out) --- but power supplies can be obtained from a lot of sources, including radio shack relatively cheaply (big buck power supplies are not a neccesity, you're only converting 120v down to 12v) - and a long-standing favorite charger is the Duratrax ICE, it allows you to charge a variety of packs from NiMH to LiPO as well as allowing you to fine tune the charging specs of each different battery pack you run as it's got a retainable menu so you can charge anything from your little packs for your mini-t, the receiver packs on your nitro , to your rechargable pack for your transmitter all the way up to your high capacity NiMH or LiPO packs for your slash all while saving the rates and specs in the charger with its little menu screen. Very cool.............
