Does anyone have any good suggestions for a replacement motor for the titan 550. I run Venom 5000 mah 7 cell packs and I'm not interested in going brushless at this point.

If I were you I'd just keep running the Titans. You can't beat them for price, but if you're going through alot of them it would make more sense just to go brushless, you'll save money in the long run. What truck/car is it?

iv got a 19t spec motor and a 12t medium quality motor both of which are similar to the titan, slightly better though

Just killed my second one tonight. The bushings just don't hold up. Every pack I hose the motor down and re-oil with a quality r/c oil to boot.

I run the 17 turn bb with a 23 tooth pinion and a 7 cell...it's a perfect combo for me.

Well picked up a Speed Gems 2 17 turn double today to try in the Slash since they were out of stock motors. Will post up what I think of it.

Motors I've run with my 8 cells 4000 mAh SC packs
Stock motor: This was with a 17T pinion. Great power and good top speed. Very drivable on a big track or a smaller track. Stock motor started making noise after a few battery packs. Speed calculator says this setup should be 30 mph.
Holmes Hobbies Handwound 11T single 540: This was with a 16T pinion. Unreal power and top speed. Pretty much uncontrollable at full throttle but a heck of a lot of fun. Blew up the stock speed control within 30 seconds. The motor gets insanely hot after 5 minutes of hard running. The heat desoldered both motor leads and one brush lead. It finally died when I let my friend drive it with the paddle tires (10 ft roosts) and he melted the endbell. My speed calculator says it should be good for 47 mph.
Trinity Speed Gems 16T double Chromium 540: This was with a 16T pinion. Great speed and power. Just barely controllable at full throttle on a 1/8 Truggy dirt track. A stock slash w/ 6 cell 3600 mAh SC battery can not even come close to keeping up. It would also easily walk away from a stock Slash on 7 cell 3600 pack. Motor gets very hot but will continue to run for a full pack at race speeds. Speed calculator says this should be a 33 mph setup. This is the most reliable setup I have tried so far with 3 battery packs through it.
For reference my speed calculator says a stock Slash with a 6 cell SC should be about 24 mph.
