with the vxl youre gonna have to be careful because it loves to lose traction and crash into things like curbs and small children

My first set of upgrades were aluminum shock caps, 45wt shock oil, an aluminum steering bellcrank, and a 17 turn motor.
The caps stop the shocks from leaking. The thicker oil slowed down the shocks a little bit and made the truck handle totally different [for the better] I only replaced the bellcrank because my stock plastic peice got bent in a head on collision with a truggy and now the steering is much smoother and more precise. The motor was a spur of the moment purchase...it's barely faster than the stock Titan but the temps are very low. It barely heats up after 15 minutes of WOT.
I don't see any reason to upgrade anything else at this point but I will upgrade things as they break....IF they break.

Brushless wad my first mod. Then Big Bores. Just out of curiosity, what are being cut from the tires? Even on 6 cell I am having serious traction issues.

Looking at the design, there's several ways you could cut them. If you removed every other row, it would give you the most forward bite. You could also cut every other knob off to make it more of a pin spike style tire.

Do the Big Bore shocks from say the Electric Rustler or Nitro Rustler work on the Slash or are they different? I have a set of Big Bores on my Nitro Sport that I could put on my Slash when it comes...

The Slash uses the same shocks as the Rustler. Just the springs are all new progressive wound units so I would use those on your big bores.

1st mod was to replace the radio with a Spread Spektrum unit 2nd mod was MM 5700 with stock gearing 3rd mod was re-gearing to 15t pinion and 90t spur 4th was night time running lights 5th mod was replacing the rear shocks do to excessive bike ramp jumps at full speed...in the dark on to flat asphalt = "S" shaped shock shafts... INstalled part number 2662, aluminum big bores with Nitride shafts, and 40 wt oil, that should work well. After the 4th of July Slash Bash at the Silverbowl, I now have aluminum castor blocks in the rear also...
