I am new to racing the Traxxas Slash, but not new to rc. What all do i need to do to the stock truck to be sucessfull while racing. What other items do i need to buy that might help me do better. And is there a mod class for the Traxxas Slash...10.5 turn??

I would say run it as is. The only thing you may need are the aluminum shock caps. But be warned, check with your local track to see what mods you can do if you plan on running the spec class. Good luck.

Switch tires are a great upgrade for lots of traction...if your track allows em'.

It all depends on your local track. Some of the basics are tires, shock oils, even certain gearing. I haven't heard much about Mod Class races yet, but with so many manufacturers jumping into the frey, Mod Class may start popping up everywhere.

Definately check with your local track on the Slash class rules. But most will allow you to change shock oils, and the radio (not the servo or ESC) to whatever you run, personally I run Spektrum. The slash class fell apart at my local class after a few races, so I modded my slash to how I wanted it and havent been happier since. It is faster and more fun to drive, even though I just bash it around the neighborhood now. Current setup... 40wt oil in front/45wt in rear 87 spur/14 pinion Epic 27turn Pro Stock motor (stock motor burned up and died) 17mm hub adapters rolling on Xray Starburst rims and Proline MOAB tires 7 cell 4500mAh battery Proline Desert Rat body Here is a pic...
