he has it hooked up to set up gear that you use to meticulously dial in your chassis when racing.

Those are camber/caster guages. He's basically giving his Slash a full-bore alignment job, much like what is done to a 1:1 vehicle at an alignment shop (just without the computerized lazer equipment)

it can't be explained any better than what javelin said.
In the hardcore racing realm, people use setup boards to perfectly dial the geometry of their suspension. That is what is going on in the pic.

i dont get it.....what did you do? its a set up station, i wish i had one for mine, as my setup station<hudy> is for 1/8 scale

Ok..I'm not really understanding this they are used to check/adjust suspension geometry. subtle changes in the goemetry will change how the truck handles and behaves..... ;D the real trick is knowing what changes do what.
