Hey i have a cc 7700kv system in my slash, the thing rips but gets too hot. Im thinking of getting a 4600kv motor for lower temps. If you could post whick motor you guys have and your temps. which motor whould be best for the slash ?

well, i don't own a brushless system, but i do know that the slash prefers lower kv motors. i would say get a vxl motor or 4600kv motor from cc. with the vxl motor you connect everything up and check and see if it works. if it dosen't work right just switch any two wires on it. but one of the two motors i stated i would get. good speed and temp ive heard on the traxxas forums from both motors.

The 7700kv is WAY to high of a KV to be running in your Slash. Even with a 3s Lipo you would see high temps. I would go to the 4600kv motor which will give you much cooler temps.
What kind of battery are you running?

What kind of battery are you running? more than hot in 3s!!! it would be worst! that's 85400rpm i run a 4600 and it's just perfect, fast enough with a 2s, and plenty of torque, plus i run in the 100F to 120F range

Hey DaddyDan, I 've just been in rc racing for one season. Raced a stock slash in spec class last yr. This yr got a new Slash with the MM 4600 to see how I can do in the open class. I race only, no bashing. Our season kicks off this Sun. at Cullmanrchobbies. What gearing have you used to keep the temps ok? I have not run the truck but for a few minutes, so I don't know what to expect in a 5 min heat, on a big 1/8 scale soft dirt track. Put a Hitech servo, dsm, and alum. shocks on the new truck, plus some argessive pin wheels. Also what temps should I expect with a 3 cell? Got one coming. I'm the ole guy thats not the fastest on the track, but will beat you if you hiccup twice..gn Thanks for any suggestions. PaPaw

i ran mine in 2s set up with a 18tpinion and stock spur, on 3cells i would try 16t... but not sure. i also raced 5 minutes heat and main on a medium lenght track ca.youtube.com/watch?v=li-sRJvkMT4 and i was in the 105F range with all mamaba max set up to normal or medium

Thanks Mr. Cool. Going to try her out this Sunday. I am thinking I will run hotter than what you mentioned. Going to try a 19t pinion to start. Track is big, so I will have to stay on it at times to try and keep up with a bunch of fast bl losi, and associated, plus a few gas 1/10th. We'll just see what happens..gn Track at www.cullmanrchobbies.com/index.htmlThanks again PaPaw

Maybe I am confused, but to answer the question in the title, Mamba Max is the ESC, not the motor, and there is only one Mamba Max.
Now if you wanted to know wich combo of motor worked best with the Mamba max in a slash, I would agree with the 4600kv motor being most suited to the Slash, higher kv motors are over kill in the dirt, so unless you are trying to break a speed record on the asphalt, stay in the lower kv range.

here is the track where i race, it's not a big track since it's indoor (there is a LOT of show here) ca.youtube.com/watch?v=li-sRJvkMT4with the same esc and motor but all the settings at high on the mamba max, temps were in the 140F and not really faster

Got to run a couple of heats Sun., had to leave before the mains and play papaw with the grandgirls. Finished second and third out of 6 open class 2wd. First time racing the new MM4600 slash, so not too bad. Punch was scalled back some, track very loose. Motor temp both heats (5 min) were in the 130s, running 19/86 gears, rest of settings as new. Used a 2C 30c 5000mah lipo. Had trouble with a couple of airplanes that just look like buggies..gn s284.photobucket.com/albums/ll23/alolies/February%201%202009/?action=view¤t=100_3209.jpgI'll get um next time..gn
