I've been browsing this site for a bite now and I was thinking of customizing my Slash a bit. Well more of buy a second one for my girlfriend and tweak it.
She likes it when the truck goes fast and isn't into the jumping and big air thing so much. So I was thinking with this set up I would install the brushless system, pop in a maxamp lipo. Also I'd use the upper shock mounting holes on both front and rear shock tower and the outer most mounting holes on the a-arms. I was also thinking of using the ultra shocks xx-longs on both the front and back. I'll moxt likely install the high torqe servo that Traxxas offers to aid in turning the wheels at high speeds.
Any suggestions that might make this project a winner?
(Any spelling errors is cause this was typed on a tiny ass keyboard on my cellphone)

the upper shock mount there is only one location...
there is no point in putting xx-long shocks in front... u want to keep the truck as low as possible for on-road use
i believe that the stock steering servo on the slash is the strongest that traxxas makes
find some on-road tires... stock tires, brushless power, and concrete do not mix well
for on-road use it would be easier to just get a street car... .

you dont need a high tourqe servo and you dont want a lot of steering at high speeds.Youll actually want to turn your steering rate down if possible.Get a castle ESC with the programmable stuff. You can set the drag brake (and a whole bunch of other cool stuff,throttle/brake curve etc)which will help turning at higher speeds tremendously. This truck really isnt made for driving fast while turning on road . It will haul butt in a straight line on road though.Brushless and 3s lipo.!Make sure you get a wheelie bar and a lot of shoo goo on your body!

My setup for street handling, that can still take the jumps when needed is this:
Rear: Big bore xxl shocks with 40wt oil and Losi E/T Maxx Lowering Blue springs (Heavy). I moved the lower shock end to the outer most mounting hole.
Front: Big bore xl shocks with 40wt oil and Losi E/T Maxx Lowering Black springs (Extra Heavy). I moved the lower shock end to the outer most mounting hole. This keeps the rear planted, i.e. more traction.
Tires: I need some on road tires, but I prefer the stance of HPI Geolanders mounted on the Pro-line beadlocks for the slash.
Running Castle Mamba Max w/5700KV motor
Batteries: 2 - 8000 mAh 2 cell li-po's 2 - 3800 mAh 3 cell li-po's (these cause the tires and foams to consistantly peel off the beadlocks and pass the vehicle at speed)
Gearing: 12t pinion 90t spur diff putty
The stance of the truck just looks mean, and it handles pretty well, although with good traction it will still flip backwards if I give it full throttle.
Just my $.02
