What are some of the upgrades that I should get for my Slash. Also how come reverse seems to have more power than forward?

Make sure the esc is not in training mode.
Reverse though will always seem to have more power though, because the chassis design allows the tires to just unload as it doesn't provide much traction. Its designed for the best traction in a forward situation. (Rear toe, anti-squat, etc)

You plug the battery to esc and press and hold the start button till it blinks once then immediately let go,this puts you in full power mode with reverse.for full power with no reverse press and hold button till it blinks twice and last for the training mode press and hold till it blinks 3 times and let go.Its in the manual,i would check to make sure cause i forgot if the transmitter is supposed to be on during the process.

id say research batteries and find some prices best and most useful upgrade you can buy also wheels and tires are not needed but always fun...but watch out once you buy 1 thing it leads to 2 more and so and and pretty soon you have something that totally lost what you bought it for so take it slow

If you are planning on racing in Stock or Mod and not the SPEC class, I would recommend getting the Outlaw from ThunderTech. It lowers your CG and makes the truck much better.
Also, add some duct tape to the underside of the body where the tires will rub and around the body posts. I didn't do that on mine and the paint is rubbing off on the inside from where the tires make contact with the body.
