I was wondering if changing radios will make a big difference in the way the slash performed like throttle throw.I just got back from a race and the best I could do was a 3rd B MAIN finish. Guys were out jumping me and some out accelerated me and this was a spec slash class. I run a two cell 28c lypo ,and the track is indoor clay. is there a way of getting into the motor for some trickery I dint know about would like to know everything I can do to compete .I have read the thread on set ups but I cant find anything in there that would explain better acceleration other than gearing .

I used to think a radio was a radio. But when I was getting my Slash ready for racing I decided to go ahead and get a Futaba 2.4 Fasst System.
This by far is the biggest upgrade I ever made.
The steering and throttle is so much smoother. It kinda works like a traction control if you think about it.
I am still not a professional with the radio's but yes they do help out.
If they were pulling away from you after jumps your slipper setting may be off as well. There may be some lube on your slipper plates and shoes.
The bearing that is in the slipper assembly is packed with thick grease and it gets flung out and it goes on the slipper assembly alot of the times.
I blueprint my slipper clutch bearings to prevent this. It helps alot.

Speaking of the slipper( I will look at that by the way) is the 12 turn motor on the slash a torque motor , what rpm range does it have. I want to make this the fastest spec truck I can. What combos would anyone who races this class use from gearing to battery

ive used both the stock radio and a airtronics m-3 fhss 2.4 ghz and as far as speed go's you will not gain more top end speed, maybe a lil more response time both steering and acceleration but not enough to really notice. One thing i liked about my radio is being able to adjust brake amount, motor rpm amount, and all the steering adj from steering throw, and steering amount from left to right to balance out and equal your turning radius and if you eventually go brushless like i have,no worries with cogging even using 6 cell nimh and worries about frequency crystals.Other than these benefits i wouldnt worry about it and work your slipper set-up and maybe experience with packing your diff with thicker that stock grease using diff fluid ranging from 30,000-50,000 wt

Im not a pro racer by any means. My stock titan dropped dramaticaly in proformance after the first 15 to 20 runs. Mostly this was caused by dirt in the motor and poor brushes. I found that cleaning it with a lubricated solvent airisol helped as a temporary solution but did not stop it from happening again. Once the brushes were damaged there was nothing you could do. I would replace the motor and break it in really well before you race it then clean it after every race to try to keep it as healthy as possible. No to motors are created equally. My brother and I both bought a slash at the same time. I broke mine in and he didn't. Toe to toe I beat him off the line and had more top end. I hope this helps.
