Since I've gotten my crawlers set up how I want them and the Slash is running good I decided to rebuild my drifter. I first got this car about 3 years ago set up to race in a spec class and my local track. I drilled some holes in the chassis to lighten it up and painted up a Protoform Charger body for it.
Shortly after I started racing the track was closed so I decided to turn it into a drifter. This was my first shot at it. Racing set up with PVC tires and an old body I had laying around.
Then I got some HPI wheels and drift tires to go with the new Charger body. I put in a 17 turn Venom Fireball motor and made some neon tubes and put head lights and tail lights in it.
That is the way I drove it for about a year. Then one day last summer I left it sitting on my tailgate at the state park and the glue holding all of my light buckets in melted. I had the neon tubes taped to the body and they started to let go as well. I took the led's out and ran it without them a few more times until one of the rear suspension arms broke. It has sat on a shelf for about 6 months since then.
A week or so ago I decided to rebuilt it. I tore it down piece by piece and cleaned everything with simple green. Then I rebuilt and properly lubed everything. I sanded down the wheels and painted them black. Then I installed a 21 turn Jaguar motor and redid the neons but attached them to the chassis with zip ties. The only led's that are attached to the body are the foglights and they have a long lead so the body can be removed and laid to the side.
Since the rebuild everything is much smoother and it drifts great!
Here is my set up:
TC3 Chassis
HPI Wheels / Type A Drift Tires
Protoform Dodge Charger SRT8 Body
21 Turn Jaguar Motor
LRP ESC
Futaba Rx/Tx and Servo
Aluminum Threaded Shocks 40wt. oil front / 50wt. oil rear
Associated Springs Blue front / Gold rear
Rear Diff locked / Front Diff snug but not locked
