I HAVE A SLASH WITH 86TH SPUR 17TH PINION & VXL SETUP & 3800MAH 8CELL NIMH BATTS. I'M NOT IMPRESSED ITS BARLEY FASTER THAN THE STOCK MOTOR. I GUESS I WAS EXPECTING TO MUCH FOR $180.00 AND IT ONLY HAS 15MIN RUN TIME. WHAT DO YOU THINK DO I HAVE SOMETHING SET WRONG?

There are certain settings on the ESC, some of which only let the truck get up to about 1/4 or 1/2 speed. Read through your manual on how to get it off that, that might be your problem.
It should be pretty fast with that setup, definatley MUCH quicker then your stock motor.

Sounds like the wrong profile is set on your ESC. Here's how to change it: Also, make sure you have the LVC shut off since you are running nimh batteries.

I did exactly that, I put my 2s Lipo in but didn't switch to the green mode (reading the Traxxas VXL ESC instructions helped) once I got everthing squared away with the speed control - Blast-off!!! It is now officially VERY fast. If it is reading wrong it'll cut down 50% speed, no fun. I know it's painful but sometimes directions are the way to go, it's a terrible thing when it comes to that, eh?
