I'm looking to get a brushless soon and I don't know which one to get. I've been looking at Mamba Max with 4600 and the Novak XBR with an 8.5 but I'm open to others just want to know what's best. I'm planning on running it on 2S Lipo.

Anyone? I'm leaning toward the Mamba since I'm used to them in my crawlers but I've been told that the Novak is smoother since it is Sintered.

The VXL system is also a nice choice. Doesnt have the programmability that the Mamba does, but its a lower KV which is better for the Slash.

Cool thanks for the info. How is the quality of the VXL? I don't know anyone that has one.

Anyone? I'm leaning toward the Mamba since I'm used to them in my crawlers but I've been told that the Novak is smoother since it is Sintered. Sintering is a manufacturing process, and has little to due with why a novak is smooth. The novak motors have a position sensor inside of them to determine rotor position(sensored). Sensorless systems(castle) use back EMF to determine rotor position. I had a novak 5800 before getting my mm5700 and in all honesty, sensored systems are overrated unless you are crawling. I would get a Mamba max. Great product backed by a 1 year warranty. You will not find a better warranty out there.

my 2 cents worth. I put an older novak super sport 5800 brushless set up with the stock pinion with either a 4800m or the 2s lipo. It rocks plenty fast and runs for ever. never gets hot seems perfect.

Cool thanks guys I am going to go with the Mamba I'll let you know how I like it when I get it. Any ideas what gearing I should start out with?

I would start stock then adjust from there depending on what your doing with the truck. (Like street, grass, dirt, etc) Different conditions may require different gearing.

The VXL motor can plug right into the trucks current ESC, right?

No the current esc is only for brushed motors. The VXL requires a brushless esc.

I thought cuz it was the Xl-5 ESC that it could go right into the Velineon. That come with the Xl-3. goes to show how much i know
