ok i had a friend buy a sidewinder and his first one wouldnt register, so he took it back to the store and they put a new one in, i was happy with the support he got in town, and on the phone from castle, so i went ahead and bought the same setup. my first one kinda worked but at least it registered, but i had it replaced, when i got the new one home, it wouldnt register at all, so i went back today and got ANOTHER new one. this one worked great for the first lil bit, i turned it on again, and the wheels turned right, i re-configured the speed control. didnt fix the problem, the trim doesnt do anything until you max it out in one direction then the truck starts jumping around and the wheels turn back and forth... is this a normal problem? is this a castle problem? the truck is only been ran about 6 times from new, and not even ran good enough to get a good run since the brushless has been put in. should i take the sidewinder back and buy a different brand? any suggestions?

I was looking today at our local HobbyTown and seen they had a sidewinder for 129.00 and he said he had a Velineon for 150.00 ..........which system would be preferred of the two? Im new to the whole brushless and LiPo but have been reading up on them alot lately. I have searched, just thought I would post the question here about the sidewinder.
Thanks

I would go with the Castle setup over the VXL. I have both and like them both, but Castle has EXCELLENT customer support, (not to say TRX doesnt), but the VXL esc's also have a tendency to pop out their wires from the ESC and its sort of a PITA to solder it back in if you can.

start over, before you power up the esc, set your radio to 0, everything, throttle, steering,etc... then power up the esc. thats what i was told to do to mine, and it worked. have you tried the castle link? to tune the motor to your likeing

turns out i think my reciever has gone bad, which is odd being that it is a new car and only been out a half a dozen times. but i used an older reciever and it striaghtened right out. the castle tech guys are great as everyone has been saying. and even though i have been having problems localy between me and my buddies car, when we got all the qwerks worked out, they are a very nice setup.

They fixed the vxls and the wires don't pop out anymore. Yea, my first VXL had the wonky style wires, sent it into Traxxas and got a new style back, free of charge. The new style is alot better.

Thanks The VXL offers drop-in convenience, takes about 10 minutes to swap the stock for VXL, but you get no tunability. (is that a word?) The Sidewinder is cheaper, has Castle reputation, but you have to fab up an ESC and power switch mount (no biggie, really), plus with Castle Link you can tune your motor to the track condition, throttle/brake, etc.

i double sided sticky taped mine to the passenger rear side of the chassis and ran the wires under the battery beside the stock wiring for the servo. and the i zip tied my power switch to the servo box as to not cut any of the chassis and weaken it.
