I was thinking about buying the 60t venom fireball motor for my slash. I figured i'd have all the power to do anything I wanted, all i'd have to do is make the gearing slightly taller. I was wondering though... Has anyone here done this? Is there a reason not to?
for those of you thinking crawlers go slow, so this should, Crawlers use 74:1 gear ratios. The slash comes stock w/ 13:1 and I could change it to about 6:1.

You would be able to walk faster then it would go wide open unless you put a BIG pinion on it. It would be useless either way. Cant do much crawling with 2wd. My crawler wont do squat if I break a drive shaft and only have 2wd.

Would be pointless.
Look at the popular crawlers out there and then look at the Slash. Two COMPLETELY different platforms, different suspension, steering etc. The Slash is only 2wd vs. crawlers which are 4wd.

Not trying to argue but this is true...
I was talking about power. the crawlers are geared way different and I could just change my gearing if I need to.
ratios:
Axial scorpion(rock crawling) 74:1 Axial scorpion(fastest) 15:1 slash ( stock ) 13:1 slash (fastest) 6.5:1 so I could change the ratio And it would go fast but with crawler power.

Your still forgetting that the Slash is 2wd and does not have the suspension / chassis / clearence etc to crawl over obstacles.
If you want to crawl, get a crawler, but your really comparing apples to oranges here.

If you want to crawl, get a crawler, but your really comparing apples to oranges here. if you dont want to spend alot of money on a crawler get the losi MRC. its awsome the only thing is add weights to the front wheels, mount batt. on top of serovo, and get alu shocks. mine just took a good fall and i broke it. oh and by a bottle of thin shock oil.

i put that title there to see what people say. i'm not really planning crawling with it. I was just talking about the motor because it has alot of power. I could change the raitos and I'd drive like i normally would, but with more power.
not wanting to crawl, just wanted power.

Its still not going to perform like you think it will. Stick with a better suited motor.
