im not an expert, but id say make sure you check the crystals. if his blue and one a certain frequency, and you are on the same frequency as him, then yes, there will be signal interference. but, if you have a blue crystal and he has a yellow one, than there shouldnt be any problems. there are other recievers out there that can find a frequency they isnt being used and it will run the truck on that, but those typically cost a pretty penny. im sure other people here can answer this question better, but this should hopefully be a start

the color of your truck doesn't matter, only the color of your crystals - as long as they're different you're good to go.
the only problem with the stock radio gear is the limited number (6 - I think?) of available channels on that frequency

Here is a secret the FCC wont tell you.. This only works on AM 27 band.
Take the transmitter crystal and put it in the receiver, and put the receiver in the transmitter. It will put you on a "half" channel, and can run together with your friends etc...
You can do that until you want to spend the money on something better.

I had heard that, I think the guys who do those radio shack or kyosho mini r/c racers or something do it all the time. I forget what they're called. They're are about 1/32 scale.

Guys are buying the radio shack crystals and using them in their traxxas radios. My understanding is they do work.
