Hey gang, I ran my Slash at the track the other day when it was hot as hell out. It shut off on me, and it was almost like it thermalled. I got it home and it would run sporadically at best. Today I finally had time to look at it and turns out that the yellow female connector on the ESC isn't even attached to the board inside the ESC. It is just sitting in there, and only makes contact occasionally, and it comes out attached to the male connector when pulled on. I'm emailing Traxxas to see if they'll replace the ESC, it only has about 15 packs on it...check out the pics. Click for larger pics:    |

That is a common issue with the VXL esc. Call Traxxas and they will replace it as long as it is not more than 60 days old. The replacement has wires coming off of the board instead of the sockets on the board. I just got one back friday and sent another one in last week. If it is more than 60 days old they will replace it for 45 dollars.

So in other words I need to find a receipt? Or should I just the LHS send it in?

Yes, you will need your receipt, but only send in a copy. But if your LHS will handle it for you that would be cool also. Mine would never do that for me.

He always keeps copies of receipts in the computer, so I can get it that way, or have him send the ESC in for me. When my RC trucks got stolen in January the insurance company needed receipts and he had them saved from a year and a half earlier, lol. EDIT-Took the ESC to the LHS and it will be shipped back to Traxxas and replaced. Woot! |
