help with motor/batt setup on GFs slash

Will a maxamps 8cell 4700mah nimh battery and a team orion 15 turn double formula sv2pro bb work well with the stock esc? The rest of the truck is stock except for rpm parts and big bore shocks.

Im using the same motor but with and 2s lipo the only problems i have are the motor gettin insanely hot. Trying to figure out a good gearing setup.

What pinion are you running. If its hot gear down. Im running a 2s Maxamps 8000 lipo with a 19t pinion stock spur and it doesn't get hot at all.

So I should have no problems running my 8 cell packs then?

I think your 8 cell battery should be fine with the stock ESC. Just keep an eye on the temps of your ESC.

I am at like a 16t pinion and it gets hot. What i need to do this weekend is take it to the track and run it for 15 mins. take and actual temp. What temp should i be concerned about not going over?

i'm runing an orion 17x2 sv2pro with a 3400 lipo and a 19 pinion and i run a lap down from the leaders, and the esc is warm to the touch. soons i find a 15x2 i think i'll be able to keep up lol, or pass em

Went ahead and threw a velenion system in her truck ;D It's gotta be the most bang for the buck.
