My buddy and I have owned our Slashes for about 1 month now. We drive a couple of times a week if we're lucky, and sure, we bash these things around pretty good but no skatepark stuff or anything like that. So far, my friend has broken his Slash every single time he's driven it. And I've done some damage too. My damage pretty much all stopped when I replaced every single part I could with an RPM part. Since then, nothing. We've just run out of all the spare parts we had lying around and now I'm re-building his Slash with all RPM parts and an aluminum chassis so we don't have to stop driving because his car is basically in 2 pieces.
UPDATE: I am now breaking RPM parts.
UPDATE: Updated broken parts list.
I love this car but if I read one more comment about how durable these things are I'm gonna have a meltdown.
I hope somebody will find this list of damage and broken parts helpful in determining what to replace before it breaks (which is basically everything).
Me: rear axle carrier rear axle carrier (RPM) front axle carrier (RPM) stub axle chassis rear skid plate bent both front suspension pins chunk out of left rear wheel body cracked in 2 places bent rear shock cracked wheel rear axle titan 12T motor venom fireball 15T motor stock pinion gear 16T pinion gear stock spur gear
Friend 01: rear shock tower (2) front shock tower (2) caster block (2) chassis front skid plate front axle carrier front axle carrier (RPM) rear axle carrier (RPM) front a-arm bent both front suspension pins (2) tie bar is cracked and will break soon body cracked in 2 places
Friend 02: gearbox rear axle carrier (RPM) nerf bar
Friend 03: front bumper split tire
Oh yeah, and except for the RPM parts, these things are stock using 8.4v 7 cell 5000mah batteries.

im not really sure how hard you run your car but my slash doesnt really break. the only real problem is the spur gears and maybe the shock cape pops off, but other than that its one of the best trucks ive owned!

Not sure how you and your friend drive, but maybe this isn't the hobby for you...when I had my Slashes I had a VXL and 3 cell lipo in them and did some pretty stupid things with those trucks. The only issues I ever had were spur gears.

If its cold where you live, you will break parts pretty easily. I've had mine for a few months now and i broke 2 rpm rear shock towers (1 stock 1 rpm) and 4 rear skid plates. Overall though its the most durable RC i've ever used, must be shitluck sorry brotha.

w/ any hobby you will always have parts break. the beauty of hobby grade RC is that you can replace broken parts instead of being an entirely new rig. as stated before, the colder it is the more prone RC/ drivers will be to broken plastic parts because the cold temp actually makes the plastic parts relatively brittle. as for the slash not being durable? try and drive other RC vehicles as hard as you do and trust me you'll easily learn that compared to others the slash is near bullet proof

well i drive mine pretty hard sometime and the only thing that broke is the rear bumper mount (2 times) but now i have the rpm one so it will not pop out like it use to when landing on the rear bumper, other than that i stripped 2 spur gears but the 3rd one that i am using right now is way better than than the 2 previous, it's ''perfectly round'' and the gear mesh is the same all around, so i don't think i will have this problem. by the way, at our local track, it's rare that i see a broken slash... sometimes shocks caps pop off but that's about it. you must run it pretty hard to broke a chassis i never heard about a broken chassis before

took five months of relatively tough driving to finally really really break something on the truck (two rear bigbores, rear shock tower, and read chassis brace)

Update to broken parts list (see first post). Now that I've started breaking RPM parts it's time to try our luck with aluminum.
Also, I have another buddy who just bought a Slash. On day 2 he broke his gearbox where it meets the right A-Arm.
This is becoming a much more expensive hobby than I thought. That being said, I'm still very much enjoying it.

I think the cold might have something to do with it.

I have had mine for almost 4 months. My only complaint is the motor. I have toasted two already. First one went in the first two weeks. Second lasted until last weekend. So three months hard use (every other day) i guess isn't too bad really. This truck is AWESOME!

Updated broken parts list.
The damage has slowed down a bit (warmer weather perhaps?), The aluminum parts are working out great. It seems that my damage has moved on to the motor and transmission. I went through 2 pinion gears and a spur gear because the RPM motor cover failed (twice) and let in a tiny rock.
